Inhaled Colistin
Jan 21, 2019 at 7:57 PM

So I’ve been taking inhaled colistin for a couple of weeks now and I feel like it is causing some chest tightness and I just don’t feel as open as I was before I started it. I see my doctor tomorrow so I’m going to speak to her but has anyone had this experience with colistin?

Nathan Course says...Yes, I had the exact same experience. I felt closed up afterwards, like I was having an asthma attack. I did culture aspergillus fumigatus, and I'm told it can trigger asthma type symptoms. I wonder if that has anything to do with it.
Eventually I had a lung transplant and inhaled colistin was just like breathing air with my new lungs. I never found a solution, other than doing colistin followed by coughing or bi-pap to open up my lungs with positive pressure.
