In this episode, Jerry shows us how he packs his CF medications before traveling out of town. Its best to ensure you have all the meds you need and stay organized. Jerry also recommends you carry a letter from your doctor, stating you are a CF patient and these are your medications. Its important that the letter be on official letterhead from your doctor.

Doing these exercises on a daily basis will strengthen your core and help you cough up mucus better.

This is the first in a three-part CF Wind Sprint series which will take a look at the major transitioning stages for people with cystic fibrosis. In this episode, we meet Jillian Monitello, a native of Long Island, NY. Jillian candidly opens up about her experience in transitioning from pediatric CF care to adult CF care. Jillian shares a few tips about making that transition, and recalls the stress she felt when first told she would need to move into adult CF care. In the end, thanks to the guidance of her doctors, hers was a smooth transition.

In this second part of a three-part series on transitions, we meet Ryan Randazzo. Like many kids his age, Ryan wanted to go out of state for college. But after weighing his options, he decided on the State University of New York at New Paltz, staying close to a CF center in case of an emergency. Ryan talks about the challenges of transitioning from high school to college, especially as it pertains to adjusting to a new schedule. He says some colleges will be flexible and accommodating to the needs of CF patients, but you should be sure to consult with your college about those options. Soon after getting to SUNY - New Paltz, Ryan was on his own, and very quickly learned the importance of maintaining your own schedule and having self-discipline when it comes to compliance. If you know you can go away to school with cystic fibrosis, he says, you can do anything in life.

In this episode, Jerry talks about Club CF - an online website where you can find stories of people across the country who are living, breathing and succeeding with cystic fibrosis. Club CF features people from all walks of life in their 20's, 30's, 40's, 50's and 60's. Caregivers are also given a special section to share their stories about their particular fight against cystic fibrosis.
CF Wind Sprints: Episode 24 - Working Out on the Road
In this episode, Jerry talks about what you can do to keep your exercise regimen while traveling. Working out on the road gets tough, since it takes you out of your normal routine. But with the use of a few tools found in our great Club CF bag,you can exercise even in the comfort of your hotel room. Jerry demonstrates how he uses the hand grips and shows us a few exercises that can be done with bungee bands. For Jerry, jumping rope is a great exercise, since it induces coughing and helps the respiratory system.

CF Wind Sprints: Episode 34 - Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate
With summer coming, it is really important to stay hydrated. Jerry drinks at least two quarts of water a day and he drinks sports drinks as well. Always read the nutrition facts and look at sugar levels, vitamins, and proteins before choosing one. Try several different options to find out what works best for you!

Jerry likes using his Magic Bullet to make different types of smoothies because they are a quick, easy, and nutritious way to consume the necessary amount of calories for someone with CF. The best part is -- the Magic Bullet is easy to travel with and makes snacking a whole lot easier!
CF Wind Sprints: Episode 36 - Post Transplant Compliancy
To stay compliant, Jerry keeps a daily log of things like his temperature, blood pressure, heart rate, and a number of other things. He also takes his medications daily -- on average about 40 pills a day. By monitoring his vitals and keeping up with his medicines, Jerry is able to keep track of how his lungs are doing.
